Adopt-A-Highway Fall Clean-Up

The Bedford Residents Association Adopt-A-Highway fall cleanup of the Bedford Highway is scheduled for Saturday, November 6th from 9 am - 1 pm. In the event of torrential rain it would be rescheduled to Sunday, November 7th.

We will be working on the Bedford Highway from Larry Uteck to the Bedford Legion (about 6km) and require volunteers to be 12 or over, and, if 12-17, every 6 participants require adult supervision (over 18).

Necessary cleanup equipment such as safety vests, rubber gloves, garbage bags and trash pickers, will be supplied and can be picked up at Fish Hatchery Park. Please arrive by 9am in order to pick up your supplies. Volunteers should be properly dressed with boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Rubber gloves will be provided but you may wish to have work gloves.

We would like to get groups of 2-3 out and working as quickly as possible in order to meet the timing of the trash pickup at 1pm so please plan to get started at 9am promptly.

Full bags are to be returned to Fish Hatchery Park to be picked up by HRM staff promptly at 1pm.

Proper protocols will be followed based on current protocols at the time. Please plan to work in your groups of 2-3 and have a mask available in the event that protocol requires it at times.

A reusable bag with some goodies from local businesses will be provided to volunteers. If you are a local business and would like to donate something for our volunteers please let us know.

If you are interested in volunteering, have a donation, or would like to be involved in some way, please contact Donna Lugar at donna.lugar@outlook.com.

It takes a lot of volunteers to do a 6km stretch so we welcome all volunteers!
