We will be working on the Bedford Highway from Larry Uteck to the Bedford Legion (about 6km) and require volunteers to be 12 or over, and, if 12-17, every 6 participants require adult supervision (over 18).

Necessary cleanup equipment such as safety vests, rubber gloves, garbage bags and trash pickers, will be supplied and can be picked up at Fish Hatchery Park. Please arrive slightly before 9am in order to pick up your supplies. Volunteers should be properly dressed with boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Rubber gloves will be provided but you may wish to have work gloves.

Tick Prevention Webinar - Presented by Donna Lugar

The Bedford Residents Association is pleased to announce that its first webinar of 2022 will be hosted by our Past Chair, Donna Lugar. Donna is the founder of the Nova Scotia Lyme Support Group and a Lyme Education Ambassador for the Global Lyme Alliance.

The Tick Prevention webinar will discuss how to avoid tick bites and provide some general information on Lyme and tick-borne diseases. With all of Nova Scotia at risk for Lyme disease, and the Halifax Regional Municipality a high risk area, all Bedford residents should have a basic knowledge of the issue.

The webinar will take place from 7 - 8pm on Tuesday, March 22nd. Registration is required in advance and is free for paid members and $10 for non-members (who then receive a free one-year individual membership).

Webinars provided by the Bedford Residents Association are just one way we will be fundraising to help cover the annual costs of our website and community events and initiatives.

Register by Saturday, March 19. Members can register at info.bedfordresidents@gmail.com. To attend the event as a non-member send $10 via eTransfer to info.bedfordresidents@gmail.com or visit https://forms.gle/1iWN8vxM6i9TUc8X7.

Testing of CFAD Bedford Evacuation Alarm System

For your awareness, Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (Bedford) will be running a complete test of its evacuation alarm system tomorrow,

Wednesday, December 1 between 9:30 & 10:30 a.m. (Atlantic). See below information for full details. If any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Testing of CFAD Bedford Evacuation Alarm System

Dear Halifax/Dartmouth neighbours who live/work/transit in the vicinity of Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Bedford:

CFAD Bedford will be running a complete test of its evacuation alarm system this Wednesday, December 1 between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m (Atlantic).

This test will include the broadcasting of audio messages that are not released during CFAD Bedford’s routine, weekly (Wednesday) alarm tests.

During the test, members of the public might hear terms such as ‘evacuate immediately’ or ‘shelter in place’ being broadcast throughout the Depot; concerned citizens can rest assured that this is a test only. Any noise or inconvenience to residents is regretted

Safe handling, storage, maintenance and transportation of ammunition is at the core of CFAD Bedford’s operations. This testing is one of multiple layers of safety oversight, technology, equipment, infrastructure and procedures in place to ensure that CFAD operations remain safe for CFAD’s workforce, neighbouring communities and all members of the Defence Team and the public.
